Okay, Thanksgiving is barreling towards us and you're planning the menu and, yeah, pumpkin pie will be on the table. It has to be, right?  But variety is the spice of pie, isn't it? I mentioned vanilla crumb pie yesterday as one you need to consider, but there are others. Lots of others. Trying to winnow my list down of favorite Amish pies for your Thanksgiving table is tough, but...here goes:
AMISH OATMEAL PIE: Man, this is good. This is the gold-standard of Amish pies. First of all, it resembles a pecan pie, but without the expensive pecans, so it is cheaper to make. This pie is a sentimental favorite of mine, being the first recipe ever published in The Amish Cook column over a quarter century ago. Click here for the recipe and amaze your family and friends!
GRAPE PIE: Why not? I mean, part of a great family get-together is conversation and you'll get everyone talking if you serve a grape pie. Apple is so yesterday. Grape pie? Give it a try here.
SAWDUST PIE: Again, get people talking. Who won't have something to say about something named "Sawdust Pie"....yum...click here for this Amish classic.
AMISH SOUR CREAM APPLE PIE:Â Okay, if you insist upon a classic, try this awesome Amish apple pie recipe.
The Bishop's Chocolate Pie....a perfect way to cap off your holiday meal!
