Blueberries are a summer staple in Amish kitchens as the summer progresses. Many Amish either grow their own or they frequent u-pick patches to get their blueberry supply.

This super berry is then home-canned (although more progressive Amish with freezers are preserving food that way more and more) and enjoyed year-round. Amish cooks press blueberries into coffeecakes, muffins, breads, rolls, and pies. Some even blend it into juices. The blueberry packs a punch of flavor and versatility. Apparently, by the way, blueberry is a tough crop to make money on some years with unpredictable prices. See this article from the Bangor, Maine newspaper.
Our friend Jessica made this "Blueberry Dream"….delights and dream dishes are common in Amish kitchens and this recipe would right at home! This was amazing flavor, yum! Enjoy!
