Blueberries are a favorite fruit among the Amish. They can be infused into juices, baked into breads, packed into puddings, and on and on, all while delivering a vitamin-packed, nutrient-rich experience. But one of the easiest uses for blueberries is a simple cobbler. And top it off with a scoop of ice cream or some whipped cream and you have a total winner.

❓ Why Do Amish Cooks Like Blueberries?
Blueberries are relatively easy to grow. And the Amish who live in Maine definitely take advantage of the perfect soil and growing conditions that allow for that state to have such a bumper blueberry crop year after year. Some favorite uses for blueberry include:
- blueberry pie
- blueberry pie filling
- blueberry bread
- blueberry muffins
- blueberry coffeecakes
- blueberries in salads
📋 Step-by-Step Amish Blueberry Cobbler
This is an easy recipe. I think my favorite part is the blue batter that you get before pouring it into the pan. And, yes, I ate a couple spoonfuls. Couldn't resist. I did that all the time when I was a child but, I know, you aren't supposed to eat batter with uncooked eggs, flour, etc in it. But it sure is good!

Unfortunately, my tiny hometown grocery didn't have fresh blueberries, so I was stuck with frozen, which worked out OK, but I'd prefer fresh.

This is the creaming of the sugar and butter. I used a huge wooden bowl to do this. Probably the bowl is meant for salads, but nothing worse than getting flour and sugar all over the place, so I loved using this big bowl.

The blueberry juice is what really gives this cobbler a burst of blueberry.

If I were going to make this recipe again (and I am sure I will), I'd probably use a full cup of blueberries instead a half a cup. Most of the berries sink to the bottom, but I think I used a full cup there would be more berries throughout. So that is my two-cents of advice!

This is a really delicious cobbler, full of flavor. And, yes, those blueberries in the photo are still frozen! But I can never have too many blueberries!
