    🥗 Trending Amish Salads

    Perfect Picnic Corn Chip Salad

Corn Chip Salad: Check out this super salad - Perfect Picnic Corn Chip Salad is right up the wheelhouse for many Amish cooks. First of all, you’d be surprised how popular salty snacks are in Amish communities. Sometimes it’s a little disheartening to see how a once very locavore diet has become filled with canned and bagged processed foods. This is the case in many Amish communities, whenever I visit an Amish home I see bags of chips, potato chips, Doritos to a lesser extent, and Fritos corn chips are very popular, I have found. So, what could be better than Fritos in a salad? Click here for this wonderful recipe.

Beautiful Broccoli Salad: This salad recipe for years was one of the most popular items on Amish365 and it still gets the clicks. Click here for this perennial favorite!

    🍞 Trending Amish Bread

Homemade Peach Bread: I have mixed emotions about this bread. On one hand, I love peaches, so why not peach bread? On the other hand, I love peaches so much that if I am going to each peaches I just want to eat peaches. So you decide. Here is the recipe.

    🍲 Trending Amish Meals

Amish Broasted Chicken: I'm not sure this chicken fits the technical definition of "roasted", but it is tasty. Read more and decide for yourself. Check out the recipe here.

    6-Ingredient Amish Shipwreck

Amish Shipwreck Casserole: This is a great recipe, an easy hearty meal that is popular among the Amish:

I wax sentimental whenever I see a recipe for "Shipwreck", especially one like this written in the original Amish Cook's own hand. The Easy 6-Ingredient Amish Shipwreck Casserole is a close cousin of the handwritten version you see below.  This recipe is intriguing because it is very popular in Amish kitchens.

You see, Shipwreck is a recipe that used to appear in many Amish cookbooks around the middle of the 20th century. By the time Elizabeth Coblentz included this in our cookbook materials the recipe was slipping out of culinary culture and you hardly see it today.  This is an early example of a recipe becoming popular in pop culture and then being embraced by Amish cooks.  They likely saw this as a hearty meal during lean times.   Click here for the recipe.

Amish Cream Horns: These are delicious! Here is a bit more about them:

Creme horns spelled "creme" looks more elegant on paper, but maybe they should be spelled "cream horns?" What do you think? Regardless, these are popular confections in Amish bakeries. They are easy to make and popular with customers. They aren't quite as popular in home kitchens because you either have to buy the puff pastry exterior (and they aren't available everywhere) or make it yourself (a bit of a laborious process).  I've become quite a cream horn connoisseur (unfortunately for my pants size).  The cream horns at the Amish-owned Keim Family Market in Adams County, Ohio are delicious with their sweet, creamy flavor.

Peach Dump Cake: This is a super summer treat!
