It is a February Saturday as we creep towards spring. But winter still rules the roost. We have a few early spring staples slipping in, but let's take a look at what is trending today:

    🥗 Trending Amish Salads

    Delicious Cheeseburger Salad
    Delicious cheeseburger salad...

Amish Cheeseburger Salad: Even the salads are heavier and meatier during the winter months. Here is a bit more about this salad: Amish cheeseburger salad is a recipe that has become popular on tables for the after-church lunch at gatherings.  You know, there are several advantages to this recipe.  One obvious one, I would think, is that this would be like enjoying a cheeseburger without the carb-loaded bread.   So the anti-carb crowd might like this recipe. This salad is essentially a deconstruted cheeseburger in a bowl. Click here for the recipe.

Hot Chicken Salad: Another typical salad for a cold February day. Check out Amish Hot Chicken salad here.

Amish Meatball Sub Casserole: This is a hearty one for a winter supper. Here's a bit more about this one: When I heard the name "meatball sub casserole", I assumed it had meatballs in it, but that is not the case. Although, well, I am sure if you had leftover meatballs from something you could use them in this Hearty Amish Meatball Sub Casserole recipe. A meal like this is a big hit at, say, an Amish after-church gathering when hundreds of people congregate to enjoy good food and fellowship.

A hearty bowl of meatball stew!

Amish Meatball Stew: Nothing better than a warm, meaty meatball stew. Click here for this delicious Amish recipe.

Amish Chicken Corn Casserole: With the corn, this seems more summery. But a heart chicken creation is good year-round. Here is a bit more about this recipe:

Some people wonder why we run so many casserole recipes on this website? The reality is, however, that Amish Cooks really rely on casseroles. They are easy to assemble, feed large groups of people, and the amounts can be adjusted according to how many people you’re feeding. Plus, casseroles travel so easily. You can put it in a casserole dish, bake it, cover it, stick it in a box, and it can bounce along on a rough buggy ride without really messing with the dish's appearance any.

Amish Frolic Casserole: This is a delicious recipe, hearty and full of hamburger. Click here for the recipe.

Amish Sawdust Pie: Here's a bit about this recipe:

    Amish Sawdust Pie

Amish Sawdust Pie that gets requested from time to time. It's a delicious pie that is often overlooked and underrated among the Amish's amazing repertoire of wonderful pies.

This pie's name is thought to be taken from the sawdust-like appearance of the pie, as sawdust is a familiar sight in Amish-owned mills and lumberyards. This is a thick, hearty pie that's full of coconut. And, believe me, it doesn't taste like sawdust. Yum! Click here for the recipe.

Bishop's Chocolate Pie: A delicious pie, popular in February as chocolate becomes a Valentine's staple. Click here for the recipe.

Amish Sour Cherry Pie, try this!

Winters are long and cold in Canada so garden plants are often seeded and started indoors before transferred to the rich soil outside.
