Super Seven Layer Salad: This salad is a staple at gatherings. Read more here:
you'll love the Amish seven-layer salad recipe. I'm not sure I've ever stood there and counted the layers and it's possible some corner-cutting cook has shorted me on a layer from time to time, but I do enjoy the salad.
There are so many versions of this popular salad. Man, looking at this photo makes me miss my grandmother...just seeing her handwriting is like seeing her. I notice her version has celery in it and specifies Colby cheese, which are both different from the Amish recipe below. So, you know, feel free to tweak. Anyway, click here for the recipe.

Amish Ham Meatballs: This recipe is super...read more about it here: Whether it is among the Amish, Mennonites, or non-Amish ham seems to make an appearance at the major holidays (except Thanksgiving). Easter seems to bring out whole hams served glazed and sliced whereas Christmas seems to bring out the variations from croquettes to casseroles to meatballs. And that is what I have for you today: a delicious recipe for ham meatballs from a Mennonite cook in Iowa. Check out this amazing recipe for Delicious Amish Ham Meatballs. Click here for the recipe.
Skillet Steak Supreme: A delicious one-dish classic! Check it out here.
Super Juicy Baked Burgers: This is a super supper! Read more about it here: I have visited many Amish homes over the years for many meals and there’s something I don’t think I’ve ever eaten for a meal while visiting: hamburgers. This lack of a burger encounter doesn’t in any way mean that hamburgers aren’t popular among the Amish. They are. But usually, when I have dropped in on a home for supper there is a stovetop meal being fixed, or something a little more “formal" since I’m usually considered company. But I wish had dropped in somewhere when they were serving Super Juicy Baked Burgers like these. Click here.

The thought of hamballs doesn't really appeal to me too much but I'm gonna try them anyway, since I have a small Cure 81 ham to get rid of in the next few days. Luckily my kitchenaid mixer had an attachment I ordered years ago to grind things (I think I've only ever used it for grinding up leftover meats and I always jam in some pickles (dill only) to add extra flavor to the roast beef, so I might try that with the ham, too.
Anyone else ever do that?

Hi! I sure have been enjoying your daily posts! My question is: I want to make the Sugar Cream Pie but am not great with pie crusts. Since you suggested not to use store bought prepared crusts, how about the Patty Pat crust that you mention so often? Is that buttery enough? What about a homemade Graham Cracker crust? Thanks in advance!

Hi, Ellen - In my book you can never go wrong with a graham cracker crust on anything! I love graham crusts! But the pat-a-pan recipe is also my go-to for pie crusts, very tough to screw that one up, so if you want a more traditional pie crust, go with that one. I love sugar cream pie, so good luck and enjoy! - kevin
