Amish Dandelion Salad and Gravy: Here is a bit more about this delicious spring staple:
On one visit I saw a spring staple in Amish country: dandelion gravy. Wow, oh wow, you won't find that many places. I asked our kind server whether they just went out to a field and picked these dandelions (really, how else would you get them?) and she said she guessed that is how they did it. Although she did add that some people are beginning to grow them commercially (hmmm, my yard could be worth a fortune then). Click here for the recipe.

Amish Grilled Chicken: A delicious meal. Read more about it here: The secret to the great recipe was fresh chicken home-butchered by Amish farmers and then this simple, but flavorful marinade. As he manned the grills, turning the pieces of chicken methodically with a long fork, I pulled out my notepad and asked him he could share their recipe. The chicken was so popular it pulled in customers from miles and miles around. Click here.
Hot Dog & Noodle Casserole: I really like this recipe, full of noodles and dogs. A hearty, inexpensive supper! Click here.
🥘 Trending Amish Sides
Delicious Amish Scalloped Potatoes: Here is more about this filling favorite: Today, even though many Amish don't farm as much as they used to, potatoes are still a crucial component of the menu. Mashed potatoes are amazing, creamy, and butter-soaked. Baked potatoes, who doesn't like those? Potatoes au gratin, count me in! Scalloped potatoes are another amazing favorite and I am so thrilled that Carmon Hacker, a great friend to this site, shared her special recipe with us. Click here for the recipe.
🍪 Trending Amish Desserts
Amish Peanut Butter Pie: This cold, silky, smooth dessert is amazing. Read more about it here: The hallmark of an Amish peanut butter is just good ingredients. Now one wrinkle you'll find in Amish kitchens is a lot of homemade peanut butter, home-ground peanuts. If you can get your hands on homemade peanut butter you'll have a much more authentic pie. You will, however, have to adjust sweetness and texture as you go along. This recipe is adapted for store-bought peanut butter. Other hallmarks of Amish peanut butter pie: Click here for the recipe.
