We are creeping towards spring and that means the trending recipes are slowly changing with the seasons, but hearty winter-type casseroles are still hanging tough along with the cold weather!

    🥗 Trending Amish Salads

Chunky Pennsylvania Dutch Potato Salad: This is a really great salad to consider putting on your Easter supper table. Here's a bit more about this recipe:

Chunky Pennsylvania Dutch Potato Salad is a great recipe and with so many end-of-summer picnics coming up, I thought I'd share it. I know everyone has their own special potato salad formulation but if you are open to experiment, this is a great one to try!  I've seen this recipe posted online, but it was first sent to me by an Amish woman from the Ronks, Pennsylvania area.  This is a potato salad with a classic Pennsylvania Dutch culinary influence.  The apple cider vinegar and yellow mustard are tell-tale signs.

The big difference in this potato salad from others is one minor detail: size.

Famous Amish Macaroni Salad: This is another one you should consider for your lunch table. Here's a bit more about this one: Macaroni salad recipes are a dime a dozen, but most recipes, it seems, make a mushy, watery, bland salad.   So looking for a recipe that really makes a salad sing is a challenge. I loved the original Amish Cook's recipe for macaroni salad, a sweet salad with a hint of crunch to it.  But this famous Amish macaroni salad recipe (pictured) that I stumbled on in St. Ignatius, Montana may be one of the best I've had, and the recipe's reputation is legendary among the Amish, hence the name "fame."

    6-Ingredient Amish Shipwreck

6-Ingredient Amish Shipwreck: This is a great recipe. Here is a bit more about it:

As far as where this recipe and its name come from? I've seen people say that the recipe's roots are in Newfoundland and legend has it that as a ship was running aground, the sailors grabbed whatever food they could out of the onboard stockpile and made a comforting meal out of it once ashore. That seems a little far-fetched. If your ship is headed for the shoals, seems you are going to worry most about just getting out alive and not what you are going to eat once you get there.

Lazy Woman's Cake: A classic chocolate cake.

Amish Sour Cherry Pie: Here's a bit more about this recipe.....This Amish sour cherry pie recipe that was at an Amish-themed bake-off that I was a judge at was incredible.  The cherries were tucked into this amazing crust and, yeah, this was good. As a judge in this bake-off, I had to try dozens of desserts so I didn't have as much room for this cherry pie as I would have liked. But, wow, it was good. Click here for the recipe.

Brown Sugar Cookies: These are delicious! Click here.

Sour Cream Chocolate Chip Cookies: These are amazing cookies also. Check out the recipe here.
