Trending Recipes: Week of July 2 - Summer Salad, Corndog Muffins, Corn Bake

    Published: Jul 2, 2022 · Updated: Jul 2, 2022 by Kevin Williams | Leave a Comment

It is Saturday and that means one thing, Trending Recipes!  Check out all of these super selections for your holiday weekend!

    TRENDING AMISH SALADS

Easy Summer Salad - This is the time when gardens really begin to ramp up.  Across Amish country plump red tomatoes, fragrant herbs, tasty cucumbers, and succulent zucchinis are being harvested.  This is a super easy salad to make, you just need a little Mozzarella and you're good to go.  The ingredient amounts below are approximates, you can experiment and adjust according to taste.  This is a tasty salad!

    TRENDING AMISH MEALS

Easy Corndog Muffins - This recipe is just what is sounds like. Jiffy cake mix, believe it or not, is a staple in many Amish kitchens. Yes, many Amish are scratch cooks, but many Amish are also busy Moms with 7, 8, 9 children or more at home and if a corner can be cut in the kitchen then that's OK.

Amish Zucchini Casserole - Around the Amish the joke is that the only time folks lock their car doors at church is when they  already have enough zucchini. When I was in Knox County recently I was excited when an Amish woman gave me her simple recipe for "zucchini casserole."

Delicious Amish Ham Meatballs - Easter seems to bring out whole hams served glazed and sliced whereas Christmas seems to bring out the variations from croquettes to casseroles to meatballs. And that is what I have for you today: a delicious recipe for ham meatballs from a Mennonite cook in Iowa.

    TRENDING AMISH SIDES

Delicious Amish Corn Bake - Many Amish cooks home-can their own corn.  Nothing says summer during winter more than sparkling glass canning jars filled with golden, plump kernels of corn. Like so many Amish recipes, there are lot of recipes out there like this but with minor variations. I like this particular one because of the cracker crumb "crust."

    TRENDING AMISH DESSERTS

Amish Sour Cherry Pie Recipe - Cherries are popular in Amish kitchens in the summer.  Cherries make their way into pies, bars, cookies, cakes, and fruit salads.

Deep Dish Apple Pie - Cooking or baking food in a paper bag is a relatively old technique that really gained popularity early in the 20th century.  From an old, old book called the ABCs of Paper Bag Cookery, it describes the advantages of cooking in a bag.

Easy Peach Dump Cake (Quick and Easy) - What better to celebrate spring and summer than peach dump cake? When you also have a hungry household all demanding dessert, it’s not uncommon for an Amish cook to “cheat “and pull a boxed cake mix off the shelf and dress it up into dessert. That’s where dump cake is just so so handy in an Amish kitchen.
