So there is on one perfect, quintessential "Amish Chocolate Chip Cookies" recipe. But this one comes close.

Chocolate chip cookies can be put into a classic cookie jar and make a great after-school snack, packed into lunches, or put into a sealed note and taken to a gathering. Their portability is part of their popularity.
📋 Step-by-Step Amish Chocolate Chip Cookies
Just 10 ingredients in this one. And, honestly, I am not quite sure what the ½ teaspoon of water is for. Seems kind of a pointless step to me, but I did it.

At this point, if you have time, you should stick the dough in the refrigerator and chill it for a few hours or, better yet, overnight. That time allows the flavors to meld more, giving you a richer cookie. But if you must, you can skip in the chilling and just continue. They'll still turn out fine.

Dropping by teaspoon makes for a smaller cookie. And it's the most tedious, time-consuming part. So if you want a larger cookie and less cookies, drop by tablespoons. But if you stick to these nice, smaller cookies, you'll get about three dozen. So feel free to adjust accordingly.

When they come out of the oven, you'll get these delicious, classic cookies. I'd definitely make them again!

Amish Chocolate Chip Cookies
Ingredients
- 1 cup oil
- ½ cup white sugar1
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- ½ teaspoon water
- 2 1 /2 cups flour
- 2 eggs
- 2 teaspoons baking soda
- 3 tablespoons softened butter
- 1 cup chocolate chips
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350 (if you are skipping chilling the dough)
- In a large bowl, combine dry ingredients.
- Then add wet ingredients and eggs.
- Combine into well blended and uniform in consistency.
- Chill dough
- Drop by teaspoon onto a greased cookie sheet.
- Bake about 10 minutes or until edges of the cookies are golden brown.
