Get ready to dive into a world of pure indulgence with our ultimate guide to perfecting your chocolate fudge pie recipe. The Amish love their sweet desserts as much as anyone else. And few things say sweet more than a mouth-melting chocolate fudge pie. I've had this before and, man, you top it with some cool whipped cream and it is just amazing. This recipe comes to me from an Amish woman in Oklahoma.

🍫 The Amish and Chocolate Desserts
The Amish connection to chocolate goes beyond the connection we all have which is its deliciousness. Keep in mind, Hershey, Pennsylvania, the crucible of chocolate, is just a stone's throw from the huge Amish settlement at Lancaster, Pennsylvania. So chocolate and the Amish are in proximity to one another.
Yes, the Amish do like chocolate pie. In fact, it is one of their favorite desserts. They often make it at home, and there are also a number of Amish bakeries that sell chocolate pie. Amish chocolate pie is typically made with a flaky pie crust, a rich chocolate filling, and a dollop of whipped cream on top. It is a delicious and decadent dessert that is perfect for any occasion.
📜 Step-By-Step Ooey Gooey Chocolate Fudge Pie
This chocolate fudge pie is a super easy recipe to make. Use a 9-inch pie crust and pie pan, large eggs, and a high grade cocoa powder for the best chocolate flavor in your pie. If you are like me and no chocolate is too much chocolate, you can add a handful of chocolate chips to the mix. The cornstarch thickens the pie up so you get that good fudgy consistency. I like to use lightly salted butter, but if you are watching sodium you can use unsalted butter. Make sure you are using a large bowl to mix your ingredients in so you have plenty of room to whip or whisk everything together.
If you have any leftovers of this pie (highly unlikely!), you can store in the refrigerator for a few days.
This chocolate pie also is superb with a scoop of vanilla ice cream on it.

This is chocolate pudding in a pie crust - good pudding, but it's hard to believe that with all the "real food" that Amish have at their disposal that they would resort to using something as disgusting as Cool Whip - use real sweetened whipped cream!
Kevin Williams
Hi, Joan, yes that is a fair comment. While the Amish use a surprising amount of processed and prepared food - canned soups, boxed cake mixes, etc - for this, homemade whipped cream would probably be the way they'd go!

I’m thinking of putting this filling into a graham cracker crust and top with mini marshmallows. Then a quick trip under the broiler to toast the marshmallows before chilling. S’mores pie, what do you think?

Sounds amazing to me, let me know how it turns out!
