No, most Amish don’t care who wins the Super Bowl this Sunday. And they certainly won’t be gather round the TV set with Pizza, wings, and dip watching it.

However, that doesn’t mean we can’t look to the Amish for some inspiration when it comes to party foods.
And it’s logical, if you think about it. Most Amish gatherings involve a crowd, simply because of the sheer size of families. So any gathering becomes an impromptu party. And that means party foods , which are usually portable, fun, festive, and easy to throw together. Few things fit that bill more than a delicious dip, which you can just make in a bowl, seal it, and take it somewhere along with a bag of chips.
This Amish Beefy Chip dip has some heft to it because it’s got ground beef mixed into it. So, really, you could have this as a meal piled on top of some nachos. Or just a part of a substantive party spread.
I think the Amish are probably as aware of this unhygienic habit as anyone. The pandemic created additional awareness of this poor practice so you see a lot more dip being spooned onto plates and eaten that way. So, not many Amish double dippers, thankfully!
Making the Amish Beefy Chip Dip
This is a delicious dip with mayo, cream cheese, hamburger, salsa, sour cream, ranch and a few other ingredients.
Brown ground beef for the dip, and then you'll want to mix it with salsa, homemade or store bought. I like this best with ground beef, but there really wouldn't be any reason you could not use diced chicken or ground pork of turkey in place of beef. Just like to give you your options!
Mix hamburger and salsa, and you'll be creating a colorful part of this dip dish. Some sliced mushrooms would be a nice addition to this. Dice some green pepper and onions in too if you want. Throw in some kidney beans if you want to add a little fiber, but I would probably skip beans.
Mayo and ranch, or you can use Miracle Whip. Add squirt of mustard would add some additional tang. Add some garlic powder here too if you wish.
I think this works best to make in a square baking dish, but it doesn't really matter, you never have to put this in the oven. The total time to assemble this is probably 20 minutes, the browning of the beef takes the longest. This is a nice protein-packed dish.
Other stuff on your party spread that this dish would pair well with is potato salad, macaroni salad, sandwiches, egg salad, egg noodles, slow cooker green beans, all of the usual party favorites!

From Hunlock Creek, PA know of lots of old-time PA Dutch around here and many Mennonites 20 so miles away. You know Hunlock's since it's close to Wapwallopen, Mocanaqua and Nanticoke on the Susquehanna. lol

Do you remember eating chipped beef on toast? It was made with that dried beef stuff that came in a glass glass. A small, juice sized glass. I still have one of those in my cupboard and 2 empty ones which my grandkids use when they are here,. I am highly against plastic cups or glasses.
