Kelly and....Ryan... Is that good? bad? anyone care?

    Published: May 3, 2017 · Updated: May 3, 2017 by Kevin Williams | 6 Comments

Kelly and Ryan...geez, I keep wanting to say Kelly and Regis, shows how dated I am!

They will against former Fox star Megyn Kelly this fall in the 9 a.m. time slot

Honestly, I just don't have time for morning TV other than the occasional PBS show that I have on for my daughters.  Even before fatherhood, I didn't have time to watch shows during the prime morning working hours.  Now I think way back in college, yes, I probably had time for shows in the morning.  I grew up watching the Today Show.   ABC's mid-morning answer to entertainment has been for a generation "Live!"  Actually, I just looked...holy cow, the show, in its current format, has existed since 1988 when "Live! With Regis and Kathy Lee" started airing.  Okay, maybe that is when I watched the show, in high school. When I was home sick perhaps.  Sheesh.   So, yeah, it is has been a long time since I have watched or cared a whole lot about the show.

So, does anyone watch Live!  If so, what do you think, was Ryan Seacrest a good choice?    He seems like a "safe" choice.  Everyone knows who he is, he is sort of the heir apparent to Casey Kasem, my generation's music maven.  Anyway, just thought I'd see if anyone had any strong opinions about this.

Since you asked!!! I can not stand to watch Kelly Rippa. She is one of the most conceited, all about me people on television. Constant proud references to how tiny she is (akin to a plucked chicken in reality) where she went to the theater, opera etc, , what great and famous restaurant , what perfect children and all their activities. I did like it when Michael Strahan wasthe co-host as I thought they were great together , but that turned out to be a faked relationship. Her behavior after his departure was so childish and petulant that I was embarrassed for her. It then took her well over a year to select someone else and I think it was because she enjoyed being the queen bee with an underling applying to have the honor of being her guest host. OK-now do you want me to tell you how I really feel?

I am not a regular Kelly watcher, but I was disappointed with the choice. I have never found him to have much personality or charisma. He has taken over many of Dick Clark's old projects and my first thought was this guy needs another job? Really? Unless someone is on that I really want to see, I don't usually watch.

I always thought that Ryan Seacrest was more like the heir apparent to Dick Clark. He began co-hosting New Year's Rockin' Eve with Dick Clark and then completely took over after Dick Clark passed away. I thought they had similar styles, too. Anyway, I think Seacrest is too big for the show, tbh. I never really got into Kelly. I watched Live! with Regis and Kathie Lee back in the early 1990s when I was a SAHM.

I just read that ABC is bringing back American Idol, and that Ryan Seacrest will be the host again, so now the choice of him makes more sense now.

You are right about that Patricia, it does make sense, but, geez, American Idol being brought back? It is too soon, it needs to be off the air longer for people to really miss it...
