If you come to Amish365.com a lot you would think “Broccoli Salad”
is the only salad the Amish ever fix. But, alas, there is more than one salad that the Amish fix. Lots of tasty spring and summer salads, here are five favorites! Oh, but before we begin, here are two entrees that would pair well with these, especially with the Mennonite cucumber salad and macaroni salad:
And, now, to the stars of today’s show: the salads!
- Torn lettuce
- Shredded cabbage
- Chopped celery
- Chopped green pepper
- Minced onion
- Grated carrot
- Mayonnaise, mixed with pickle juice and sugar to taste
- Grated colby cheese
- Layer lettuce, cabbage, celery, green pepper, onion and carrot.
- Spread top with mayonnaise mixed with pickle juice and sugar.
- Then sprinkle with cheese
