I have MANY favorite Plain-owned businesses (when I say "Plain" I mean Amish, Mennonite or Brethren), so I'll do this post again sometime. I don't want anyone thinking these are my top favorite necessarily, these are just five favorites that I think are worth checking out this summer. Â And keep in mind, these are businesses that are actually Amish-owned. Â There are other neat "Amish country" businesses (i.e. like Amish Acres in Nappanee, Indiana or Rise and Roll Bakery) that are not actually Amish-owned but worth visiting. I'll list those some other time.
HEIDI'S BAKERY & CAFE: Â If you are anywhere near the cool mountains of western Maryland, check out Heidi's Bakery and Cafe, a wonderful Plain Mennonite-owned business. Â The cooking style is very much with the Amish and Mennonite tradition. Â Yum. Yum. Read more here.
Food is prepared fresh and with a smile at Heidi's.
COVERED WAGON FARM MARKET: Â Wow, this is an awesome Brethren-owned business just outside of Dayton, Ohio. Great bakery, deli and produce with a Plain touch. Read more here.
THE POTLUCK: Â I spent the night with this family once and they were just so incredibly hospitable and terrific and they really run a top-notch produce business outside of Hutchinson, Kansas and it is all honor system. Read more here.
RONAN CAFE:  A wonderful Mennonite-owned cafe in Ronan, Montana. Definitely worth stopping for just the pie! 113 Main St SW, Ronan, MT 59864
COUNTRYLANE BAKERY AND GIFTS: Â This is an Amish-owned bakery outside of Berne, Indiana. Awesome authentic food and she'll even cook you up a homecooked meal if you give her some notice. Absolutely worth a stop. Read more here.

The Ronan Café not only has good pie, but their cinnamon rolls are the best ever! Especially if you happen to be there when they come out of the oven!
