This 6-Ingredient Hamburger Casserole recipe was one of the first break-out hits on Amish365, from 2012-2015 it was always in the Top 5 recipes of the year, but gradually it faded from view and since so, so, so, so many people to Amish365 these days are new, I thought I'd bring back this old favorite. This is one of these easy "throw-together meals" that are so common and revered in Amish kitchens.  Not to mention, delicious!  If you have a large group coming you can easily double, triple, quadruple this recipe.

This 6-Ingredient Hamburger Casserole recipe was sent to me by an Amish woman in Iowa and finds its way onto church supper tables after services in their community. Looks tasty!   By the way the author of this recipe recommends Velveeta cheese. But you could just use regular shredded cheddar.

    6-Ingredient Hamburger Casserole

Let’s talk about after-church type meals. Typically, after a Sunday church service, the family that hosts the service will hold a big meal. Just as a refresher to those who may be new here, the Amish generally hold their services in the homes of church members. A handful of Amish church districts throughout the USA do hold services in a “church building “ Saint Ignatius, Montana comes to mind and Unity, Maine. But for the most part church services are held in homes. The person hosting the service generally furnishes a big meal for after the gathering. Some food is brought in by friends and family which is a help. And these “throw together “casseroles are much loved because they’re just easy and they feed a large group of people and they really are very tasty.

    A Hearty Supper

This recipe comes to us from an Amish cook in Iowa who loves to whip this up for large after-church meals which may feature as many as 100 - 150 people.
