    Amish Molasses Brownies

    Serves: 15 large brownies
    Ingredients
    • 2 squares unsweetened chocolate or 6 tbsp. cocoa
    • ½ c. oil
    • ¾ c. sugar
    • 1 egg
    • ¼ c. molasses
    • ½ tsp. vanilla
    • ¾ c. flour
    • ½ tsp. salt
    • ½ tsp. baking powder
    • ¾ c. chopped nuts
    Instructions
    1. Mix cocoa and oil, then mix in sugar, molasses and vanilla.
    2. Blend in flour, baking powder, salt and nuts.
    3. Spread in greased 8x8x2 inch pan.
    4. Bake at 350 degrees for ½ hour.
    5. Cool.

      Kevin, You have seen many authentic Amish Quilts. Do you honestly think an Amish Woman made these quilts? They just say a first name. I have never seen those kind of designs in Amish ladies quilts.

        Salli, I didn't look at the design very closely....I figured we might have some quilt connoisseurs here who'd look at it closer....I was more commented that I have seen monochromatic quilts like that made by Amish ladies but I didn't really pay attention to the design. Either way, if I were going to spend that much on a quilt, I think I'd want to meet Ida in person! (someone might say, "gee, what difference does it make who Ida is if you like the quilt")...but I do think an "Amish made" quilt does at a premium to it, hence the $1200 price tag....
