Mennonite cooks are very similar to Amish ones. In my experience Mennonite cooks may use a few more spices, but other wise the farmhouse styles are similar. This is a superb recipe to try for a weekend, because it makes a very juicy chicken with very basic ingredients. Give it a try! By the way, the recipe comes to me from a Mennonite woman in Virginia. She says the key is to add a lot of chicken drippings to the sauce for the best flavor!
MENNONITE SOUR CREAM CHICKEN
2 pound chicken breast
1 /2 cup butter
1 /4 cup flour
1 teaspoon salt
1 dash pepper
SAUCE
1 /2 cup sour cream
3 tablespoons water
1 tablespoon flour
1 /4 teaspoon salt
Drippings from the chicken

Preheat over 350° Add butter to shallow baking dish, melt. Dip chicken in butter & roll in flour, salt & pepper. then arrange skin side up in baking dish. (sprinkle with paprika).
Cook chicken for 45-60mins until done. Add drippings from chicken, water, sour cream, flour, salt, pepper & paprika to sauce pan, bring to boil stirring constantly.
Pour sauce over chicken then serve with mashed potatoes or noodles.
