Pizza casserole...author, unknown, unfortunately
By Kevin Williams
This recipe is only a "mystery" in that I don't know where it is from or who sent it to me. I know it is from an Amish cook, but I don't know the name or place because somehow the recipe sheet came separated from the envelope and the main letter. It's pretty handwriting, but that is all I have to go on. Too bad, location really helps me put an Amish recipe into some context. The author of the recipe says that this recipe can also be made/cooked on the stovetop for more of a goulash than a casserole. Both versions sound awesome!
- 3 cups cooked macaroni
- 1 pound hamburger
- 1 small onion, diced
- 4 ounces pepperoni, cut small (optional)
- 1½ cups pizza sauce
- 1 teaspoon oregano
- 1 teaspoon garlic salt
- 2 cups cheese
- Brown hamburger and onion.
- Mix with remaining ingredients and bake at 350 for 30-40 minutes uncovered.

I have made the Amish Pizza casserole for some of my grandkids and they really liked it. My recipe didn't call for pepperoni, but was still enjoyed. Next time may try it with pepperoni.

Millie, it is a popular casserole dish for young people. Thanks for the post!
