Let's see which recipes are leading the way in clicks this week. We are sort of in the "in between seasons" time so we aren't seeing a lot of strong trends right now, just a mish-mash of recipes.

    🥗 Trending Amish Salads

    Delicious Cheeseburger Salad
    Delicious cheeseburger salad...

Amish Cheeseburger Salad: This is a delicious all-in-one meal or the first course of a larger supper. Here is a bit more about this recipe: Amish cheeseburger salad is a recipe that has become popular on tables for the after-church lunch at gatherings.  You know, there are several advantages to this recipe.  One obvious one, I would think, is that this would be like enjoying a cheeseburger without the carb-loaded bread.   So the anti-carb crowd might like this recipe. This salad is essentially a deconstruted cheeseburger in a bowl. Click here for the recipe.

    🍞 Trending Amish Breads

Montana Honey Wheat Bread: Here is a bit about this super recipe: Ah, I remember those days in April of 2020, lots of time indoors. So I tried making this bread recipe with my daughters and, wow, it turned out so, so well. I vowed I'd make it again soon and I haven't. I think my problem is that if I am going to make a recipe at home, I usually figure that I might as well make a new one for the website. So I rarely repeat recipes at home, but this recipe was so easy, and so good, that I need find time to make it again. And you don't need much time to find with this one, it is a quick and easy bread but so, so good. Click here for this recipe.

Amish Mashed Potato Doughnuts: Man, these are amazing! Click here.

    🍲Trending Amish Suppers

Homemade Cheddar Meatloaf: This is a delicious, cheesy and meaty meatloaf that tastes super with all the fixin's around it. Click here for the recipe.

Amish Chicken and Rice: Here is a bit about this legendary recipe: So if you are angling for a hearty supper, this is one that is worth sampling!  By the way, there is an ingredient in the recipe that says "chicken flavoring"....honestly, I'm not 100 percent sure what that means.  I'm sure some of our more experienced cooks will know.  I was thinking maybe bouillon but I'm not sure.  You can also by McCormick's powdered "chicken seasoning", but I am not sure if that is what that means. Anyone have any ideas? Click here for the recipe.

Amish Smothered Steaks: This is a classic, belly-filling supper. Click here for this recipe.

    🍮 Trending Amish Desserts

Amish Sugar Cream Pie: Here is a bit about this Amish classic: every state has their culinary specialties, whether that is lobster in Maine, potatoes in Idaho, or citrus in Florida.  For the state of Indiana, it's sugar cream pie.  This sweet confection in a crust seems to be something that was born in the hardscrabble, thrifty, sensibility of this Midwestern state.  The recipe probably has its roots in the Great Depression when simple sweets were in demand, but money for rich chocolates and expensive desserts was in short supply.  The Amish have adopted sugar cream pie as one of their favorites.  Click here for the recipe.

Super Moist Chocolate Cake: Delicious. Here is a little more about this classic cake: Why a chocolate cake?I think the answer is pretty obvious… Chocolate is just something that most people like, it is sweet, it’s not difficult to make, and it can be quick. At its best chocolate cake is very moist and it’s just a "stir and bake" cake. Cover it with a simple frosting and you have an amazing dessert for not a lot of effort. Click here for the recipe.

    Pioneer Place
Pioneer Place in Smyrna, Maine offers everything from glass globes of kerosene lamps to trail mix!
I spotted this plain couple at Chicago O'Hare airport recently. They looked for their gate, ate at a pizza joint, and then headed back to their gate. By the dress pattern, I'd guess this coulld as being Old German Baptist Brethren and this is another plain sect that does embrace flying. Old Order Mennonites generally do not fly either, but other more progressive orders do.
