Okay, we are into June and seasonal spring recipes - strawberry, rhubarb, and peas - are in full swing as our trending recipes show. So we have a great selection of recipes this week. Let's get right down to it:

    🥕 Trending Vegetables

Amazing Amish peas I found at a benefit supper.

Amish Peas: These are, hands-down, the best peas I have ever tasted. Here is a bit more about them: An Amish woman named Betty Schrock was the one who prepared the peas that you see in the photo here and she was nice enough to take a few minutes to share her secret.  She said the key is to cook the fresh peas in a saucepan on low (add 1 /2 cup water for each pound of peas) just until they boil.  Then add sugar, salt, and pepper. She didn’t say how much of each, so you are going to have to play with the proportions, but I have a feeling  the sugar is the key to these peas amazing taste

    🍲 Trending Amish Suppers

Old-Fashioned Chicken Skillet Supper: This is another great one. Here is a bit more about it:

Skillet suppers, like this Old-Fashioned Chicken Skillet Supper, are popular among the Amish, and, a lot of other people.  Why?  One dish to clean!  No using 10 different pots to make a massive meal. All the goodness you need and want with this meal is contained in one skillet.  Stainless steel has been the skillet of choice for generations, but iron used to be the first choice and the pendulum is slowly swinging back to iron. And while you don’t have to use an iron skillet to make this, many Amish cooks swear by the iron skillet’s ability to transfer heat evenly and thoroughly.  Not to mention an infusion of iron, which can be a good thing if you're low on the mineral.

Amish Best Beef Stew: Even though it is summer, this recipe is still holding tough, showing that a simple stew is good in all seasons! Click here.

Amish Church Spread: I had trouble deciding what category to put this in, I mean, a meal, really? But, yes, many Amish eat this as a meal. Some Amish restaurants, though, keep this spread in a squirt bottle on the table and it is used as a condiment. So I wasn't sure where to put it. But check out this delicious church spread. Amazing. 🍞 Trending Amish Coffeecakes, Breads, and Cakes

Homemade Rhubarb Coffeecake: This is a wonderfully authentic seasonal favorite! Click here.

Rhubarb Upside-Down Cake: Another staple of spring and summer in Amish kitchens: rhubarb-upside down cake. Enjoy! Click here.

    Mom's Strawberry Crisp
Homemade strawberry crisp is a delicious spring favorite!

Mom's Strawberry Crisp: A simple summer classic:

Strawberries are the ultimate signal of spring in Amish kitchens. The luscious rubies begin to sparkle in the spring sun and soon the whole family is out harvesting them, Amish children popping them straight into their mouths as they pick them or cooks making delicious treats like this Mom's Strawberry Crisp.

Strawberries are easy to grow and many Amish families have at least a small patch somewhere on their farmstead. There are some Amish-owned U-pick farms that I know of to where anyone can go and pick your their own. Click here for the recipe.

Bonnie Butter Cake With Brown Sugar Frosting: A classic cake. Click here for the recipe.

This is an Amish school in Sinking Spring, Ohio...It's Swartzentruber Amish school and it's tiny and closed for the summer and I just kept thinking how HOT that little building must get on a toasty July day like the one I stopped by on......whew...imagine it would be toasty!
