5 Amish Recipes Using Cool Whip

Cool Whip is surprisingly, surprisingly in Amish kitchens, especially more progressive groups that have refrigeration.  Why mess with your own whipped cream when you can buy a tub of Cool Whip?  I ask that question slightly sarcastically, because I LOVE real whipped cream.  This present a sort of  classic "grass is greener" situation, where a lot of Amish cooks who have to work so hard look wistfully at a tub of Cool Whip while non-Amish people living chaotic lives think of something like homemade whipped cream longingly.  In any of these recipes, you can substitute homemade whipped cream for the Cool Whip.  The two by the way - homemade whipped cream and Cool Whip - are not always interchangeable.  Homemade whipped cream and Cool Whip have different compositions.  You can make a homemade mock Cool Whip with this recipe.  Cool Whip itself is a convenience product spawned by faster-paced lives, invented as a replacement  for homemade whipped cream. So here are 5 Amish recipes that pay homage to Cool Whip!

AMISH DATE PUDDING - This is an Amish classic hat, paired with Cool Whip, makes for an amazing dessert. Absolutely love it.  It's a tradition in many Amish communities, especially during summer. Can't figure out how this became a favorite, but it is.  I've had it, and it is amazing. Click here.

AMISH PEANUT BUTTER PIE:  Man, you find the right peanut butter pie in Amish country and you're set, or make your own. Here.

AMISH TAPIOCA AND MILKY WAY PUDDING:  Wow is all I can say about this one, which is featured on a different website.  Pass the Cool Whip, please? Click here.

And here are two other Amish recipes featuring Cool Whip in various ways for the spring!
