We picked up a batch of chocolate chip brownies at an Amish bake sale last weekend. Â Chocolate brownies are decadent enough. Add chocolate chips to chocolate brownies and you get pure bliss and that is what these brownies were. Â Just so happens I have a commonly used Amish recipe for chocolate chip brownies, so you get to make them yourself and enjoy this double-dose of chocolate Heaven!
Amish Chocolate Chip Brownies
Ingredients
- 2 cups (12-oz. pkg.) semi-sweet chocolate chips, divided
- ½ cup (1 stick) butter or margarine, cut into pieces
- 3 large eggs
- 1¼ cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- ¼ teaspoon baking soda
- ½ cup chopped nuts
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350.
- Great a 9 X 13 inch baking pan.
- Melt 1 cup of chocolate chips and butter in a large, heavy saucepan over low heat.
- Stir until smooth.
- Remove from heat.
- Stir in eggs.
- Stir in flour, sugar, vanilla, and baking soda.
- Stir in remaining chocolate chips and into a prepared baking pan.
- Bake for 18 to 22 minutes or until wooden pick inserted in center comes out slightly sticky.
- Cool completely in pan on wire rack. Cut into squares.
