    Rhubarb Rolls

    Published: Apr 7, 2013 · Updated: Apr 7, 2013 by Kevin Williams | 2 Comments

Tis the season for rhubarb, so I'll share another recipe from the Amish Recipe Project archives. This comes from an Amish settlement in Pennsylvania.  If you like rhubarb and don't mind a bit more of a labor-intensive recipe, give this one a shot!

    VANILLA SAUCE:
    2 c. sugar
    4 tbsp. flour
    2 c. water
    2 tsp. butter
    2 tsp. vanilla
4 drops red food coloring (optional)
    DOUGH:
     2 c. flour
    4 tsp. baking powder
    ¾ tsp. salt
    4 tbsp. shortening
    ¾ c. milk
    2 tbsp. sugar

    CINNAMON MIXTURE:

    2 tbsp. butter
    1 c. sugar
    1 tsp. cinnamon
    3 c. diced rhubarb

Combine sugar, flour, water, butter and vanilla to make sauce. Cook until clear then add food coloring.Combine flour, baking powder, salt, shortening, milk and sugar. Mix and roll out on floured surface.Mix together sugar, butter, cinnamon and rhubarb or apples. Spread out on dough. Roll and cut as you would cinnamon rolls. Place in a greased 9"x13" pan. Pour vanilla sauce over rolls. Bake at 350 degrees for 25 to 30 minutes. Makes about 15 rolls.

This is where I go to relax! Thanks for your page. I am, however, not able to read the right side of your page due to a "white out" that covers most of that column. Tried last night and this morning. Missing the fun!

Beth, thank you for the kind words. I'm doing some "tinkering" with the site, mainly as it relates to ads. That "white out" on the right side one of my mistakes as I tinkered and now I can't figure out how to undo it:( I'll be working feverishly on it today and I think in the next day or so the site will look normal again!:) - Kevin
