Amish in the News: Millie's Blueberry Cheesecake Layered Dessert, Buggies vs. Cars, Mennonites in Mexico, and More!

We have some interesting Amish stories in the news today.

I usually post Millie Otto's Amish column in this section, but I've not seen anything new from her since July 19, but as soon as I do, I'll share it.

Meanwhile, to the rest of the news:

DUTCH WAGON AMISH MARKET:  Interesting article...a bit fawning, I mean, I am sure the store is great, but, geez, the reporter seem to gush a bit too much about it.  Not being negative, just pointing out the writer perhaps veering into romanticizing the Amish a bit much.  But if you are in Burlington County, New Jersey, this sounds like a fun place to stop and shop.

HORSES VS. HOUSES:  In Lancaster County you have more and more Amish people moving into traditional subdivisions, but they want to bring their horses with them. Well, what happens when the horse comes to the cul-de-sac?  Regulations vary, but the arrival of the Amish into traditionally suburban type homes is causing some tension.   Click here to read more.

HORSES VS. CARS:  And the cars almost always come out better....read more about the Amish and car-buggy safety in this interesting article in the Detroit News.  Click here to read more.

MENNONITES IN MEXICO:  I didn't know there were Old Order Mennonite settlements on the Yucatan penninsula.  But, like here in the USA, the Plain population is growing and that means staking out new territory.  Click here to read more.

AMISH COUNTRY LAYERED BLUEBERRY CHEESECAKE DESSERT:  Man, this sounds good, from Ohio Amish Country chef Lee Ann Miller. Check out this amazing recipe!
