Pork is a staple food in the Amish diet. Pork is a good source of protein and fat, and it is relatively inexpensive to raise. The Amish raise their own pigs, and they also buy pork from other Amish farmers. Pork is used in a variety of dishes, including pork chops, ham, bacon, sausage, and scrapple.
The Amish do not have any specific dietary restrictions, but they do follow certain guidelines when it comes to food preparation. For example, most Amish do not use electricity, so they must find other ways to cook their food. They often use wood-fired stoves or ovens, and they also use iceboxes to keep food cold.
🐖 The Amish and Pork Chops
The Amish are known for their delicious food, and pork chops are one of their favorite dishes. Pork chops are typically bone-in, pan-fried or baked, and they are often served with gravy or a side of vegetables. Now, I have had pork chops on Amish farms and we aren't talking the small not-very-meaty chops found in the grocery store, the Amish have thick, juicy ones.
Most Amish have an ample supply of pork chop meat on hand from home-butchering their pigs. Pork chops make for an easy, filling supper, especially for an Amish homemaker with a house full of kids. You can make meals with them ahead of time and freeze them or just pop them in the oven on the day you want them.
SIGH, I like my pork chops as a sandwich.

Again, most Amish cook their chops very simple, with simple seasonings, not much flair. Possibly some barbecue sauce.
That's really all you need if you want a purely minimalist pork chop.
My parents had fresh pork chops last night for dinner, which got me thinking about pork chop recipes that have run on Amish365. Geez, there have been more of them than I remembered. We ran one the other day, but even beyond that there is an "Easy Pork Chops" recipe and an "Easiest Pork Chop Ever" recipe if you really want a no-frills meal. My parents just applied a little "Famous Dave's" rub to theirs and that was that. But you can dress them up a bit more.

I love fried pork chops and then you remove the pork chops from the pan and fry sauerkraut in the juices. YUM!!! Great with rice or mashed potatoes. The potatoes are my favorite.
