We are on the cusp of autumn and that means that we are beginning to see some more soups and apple recipes popping up. Check out this week's

Stuffed Green Pepper Soup: Here's a wonderful soup for this time of year. Read a bit more about it: With the approach of cooler autumn weather, many Amish cooks turn their attention to seasonal soups. Amish Stuffed Green Pepper Soup is typical of what you'd find in an Amish kitchen, with late-season peppers being plentiful. Now, what is going to vary from kitchen to kitchen is how much "spice" to add. Smoked paprika, onion powder, and garlic powder are nice additions to this soup and I'll put them in the recipe below as optional, because you don't have to add those to still get a really nice soup. Mennonite Brown Flour Soup: This is a hearty, simple soup. Check it out here.
🥗 Trending Amish Salads
Autumn Amish Apple Salad: this recipe for apple salad comes to me from an Amish woman in Missouri. Good apple country there and this is an easy salad to make. Reader Barbara who is, coincidentally, also in Missouri tried out this recipe for us. Here is what she had to say:
this was really, really easy to make! We really enjoyed the different flavors of this, was very tasty and a different way to use fresh apple. Mr said was maybe a little sweet ? So I will be making again but will try using a half cup of sugar.

Easy Amish Ham Casserole: Ah, few better comforting food for supper than a nice ham casserole: Nothing says summer supper like a nice ham casserole. This Easy Amish Ham Casserole is a delicious supper that is really easy to fix. And there is some flexibility here. You can make your own baked potatoes and blend them in, which is the route most Amish cooks would take, or you can take a short cut and use 4 cups of frozen hashed browns in its place. Amish Pizza Mountain Pies: An easy - if you have access to an open fire - and delicious way to serve supper!

Delicious Apple Cider Doughnut Cake: Delicious cake! Cider doughnuts are popular among the Amish and among the non-Amish. One of the best memories I have in all my years of exploring Amish settlements is visiting a small Amish-owned orchard in southern Michigan. Every Friday they’d sell these delicious, melt-in-your-mouth cider doughnuts. Wow, oh, wow. Click here for the recipe.
Amish Cherry Pudding: Ah, cherries...I have a love-hate relationship with this fruit. But this is a delicious dessert! This is a cherry pudding that is popular in Amish homes this time of year. SIGH, when I hear "pudding", I think of a refrigerated container of Swiss Miss creamy pudding that you eat out of a small single-serving plastic container with a spoon. Man, I love those types of puddings. But pudding in the wider sense is different than that. A lot - but not all - of the Amish pudding recipes I run in to are baked so that the final product is more like cake than custard. Click here for the recipe.
