Weekly Blogroll: Amish Honey Raisin Pie; Homemade Pancake Syrup, Amish Home Renovations, and more Irish Amish

    Published: Feb 10, 2015 · Updated: Feb 10, 2015 by Kevin Williams | 5 Comments

Okay, time for our weekly romp through the blogosphere to explore everything and anything Plain. We have some interesting stuff this week!

AMISH HONEY RAISIN PIE:  I have to confess that this doesn't sound all that great to me, because raisins just aren't my favorite.  On the other hand, every time I have had raisin pie, I enjoy it.  So this twist on a traditional Amish favorite might just be delicious.  Honey and raisins?  Do you think those flavors go together?  Find out for yourself by trying the recipe, click here.

EDITOR'S CHOICE - AMISH FARMHOUSE FACE-A typical Amish farmLIFT:  Okay, what I like about this blog was it is very "organic" and what I mean by that is that you can tell none of the conversational encounters this farmhouse has with the Amish construction crew are really planned. I think the exchanges are very revealing because of this.  There's also the notion the blogger expresses that she was a little let down that the Amish men could never really tell her why they live the way they do.  I'm not really surprised by that.  In my own experience with the Amish I've found that often to be the case. Interestingly, I've often found that the more "liberal" groups tend to be able to express better the underpinnings of their beliefs than the ultra-conservative Amish.  Click here to read this interesting blog post.

IRISH AMISH:  This is something I have written about previously on Amish365, but there is a small Amish settlement (Beachy Amish) in Ireland.  I'd love to visit there someday, it sounds quite fascinating.  Here's an article that appeared online the other day that sheds a bit more light.

HOMEMADE AMISH WAFFLE AND PANCAKE SYRUP:  This is a wonderful video demo (it's a quick, 4 minute video) recipe of what to make your own stovetop syrup for waffles and pancakes using an Amish recipe.Yum.  Click here for the video!
